Education-Based Mating Squeezes in Austria

The map displays the regional (district-level) ratio of women to men holding the Matura (upper secondary school–leaving certificate granting access to higher education) at ages 20, 25, and 30 between 2011 and 2021. Ratios above 1 indicate that women outnumber men. The higher the number, the higher the squeeze (i.e. lack of highly educated men).
